Inexpensive & Thoughtful Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Hi everyone! During this unprecedented time many of us are out of work, with no return date in sight, and therefore are trying to be more frugal with our money. With Mother's Day around the corner I wanted to share the gift guide I had been working on, but it just didn't see right during this time when many of us have had to stop shopping all together. I decided to do another post that shows some special things you can do for the Mother in your life without spending a lot of money... This is a great guide to send to your partner if ideas are needed ;). It's my hope that by the time MD is here we are starting to transition back to normal life, including seeing our loved ones. Fingers crossed!!! If not, we can always celebrate Mother's Day later when it's safe to do so.

Here are a few easy and inexpensive ideas for Mother's Day.

Homemade Cards
Homemade cards are always sweet and so special. I don't know a single Mom that wouldn't love a handmade card. Ella is helping me make cards for my Mom, Michael's Mom and my sister Sam. I'm also sending some cards to my Mom friends, just to let them know I am thinking of them. I know many craft stores that are closed are still doing online orders and curbside pick up!

Breakfast Board

Something fun that Dads can do with the kids to surprise Mom on Mother's Day morning! A breakfast board! I kept seeing this idea on Pinterest and I just think it is the cutest idea ever... It's sort of a play off a charcuterie board; instead of meats, cheeses, nuts, crackers, you lay out an assortment of breakfast foods. You can use an assortment of any breakfast foods you like. Some that we like are...

Waffles
Pancakes
French toast sticks
Buttered toast triangles
Sausage links
 Air fryer bacon
Fresh berries with yogurt dipping sauce
Sliced melons
Granola bites

Wildflowers

If you're able and depending on where you live, take a walk and pick any wildflowers you find to create a beautiful homemade bouquet. Even better, take your Mom with you for the walk and pick the flowers together. Assuming that you're 'allowed' to.

Picnic Lunch

Pack a picnic basket or cooler with a blanket and some lunch for a fun picnic at your favorite park or beach. If you aren't able to go out, stay in and do a picnic in your own backyard! We just found out the green spaces in Seal Beach are open, so we're definitely going to be doing a little family picnic.

I am personally a huge fan of The Dollar Tree and think it's a great place to get small gifts and inexpensive cards!!! I found a few cute things on their website...

Gardening Supplies
The Dollar Tree has numerous great things to use as inexpensive gifts. One of my favorite things are their gardening supplies. A cute planter/pot, a box of wildflower seeds and some new gardening gloves for a very inexpensive but thoughtful gift.

Coffee mugs
They have the cutest mugs! Pair a cute mug with a box of tea or a packet of hot cocoa and a few chocolates or shortbread cookies and you have a great little gift.

Spa Supplies
Set up the bathroom like a spa retreat with lit candles and a hot bubble bath ready to go. This would be such an amazing surprise for any Momma.. Especially after a yummy breakfast board! You can buy a few spa supplies to enhance the experience... Face masks, hand gloves, eye masks and bath bombs would be fun.

Just a few ideas if you're looking for inexpensive and easy! I am still trying to figure out what exactly I am going to do for my Mom from across the country, but I know I'll think of something! Enjoy your weekend friends, we'll see you on Monday!
