Friday Favorites

Hi friends and happy Friday. It's been a bit since we've done a Friday favorites post and I'm excited to be back on our normal blogging schedule. I am working today from 7-4, and then have the weekend off! We don't have any plans but I have a feeling it's going to involve some Fall decorating and maybe some baking! I also really want to get back to my meal-planning and prepping on weekends, so please let me know what are some of your favorite go-to recipes for this time of the year. We would love some new flavors to try! Okay, onto our favorites from this week.

Disclaimer- you wont see a lot of exciting pics of us doing many 'adventures' yet. Covid-19 is still out there and now we have wildfires (as I am sure you've read about) that are causing very poor air quality. But we've been trying to be creative and have fun at home. I have a post coming up to show you some little activities I made Ella to play with and we've also been working on her space learning unit at home, which has kept us busy!

One-

We recently got a front facing bookshelf (affiliate link) to display a small selection of books in Ella's play area and I just love it! I find Ella is definitely more inclined to sit down and read some books during play time when she can see the covers right in front of her. It was so easy to put together, feels really durable and was really affordable at only $30.

Ella has been stopping to read much more frequently, which is a win!

We added a few fall favorites to her bookshelf recently as well, and we are loving them...

- The Busy Little Squirrel by Nancy Tafuri

- I Love Fall by Alison Inches

- The Spooky Wheels on the Bus by J. Elizabeth Mills

- Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson

- Baby Loves Fall by Karen Katz

Two-

Ella is starting to understand how to "smile" when I ask her to smile for pictures. I am obsessed, how cute is she?? She smiles like her Daddy too, which cracks me up.

Three-

We recently changed Ella's wardrobe area just a bit, to accommodate her independence even more. I added some extra drawers and added picture labels to display what's inside. Right now we keep loose tees in one drawer, pants/shorts in another and all in her pajamas in the one to the left. Because Ella 'digs' when she is looking for something, I don't really plan on keeping those clothes folded. It drives my organized self a little crazy but at the end of the day, I want to accommodate her independence without it becoming a burden on myself. I can't image refolding those clothes everyday, so for now, they are just gonna be in a ball in that drawer- and that's okay! We only hang jackets, sweaters and dresses. I added a little basket for her dirty laundry, so that she can actually help carry it to the laundry room. Her basket before was a bit too large for her to carry!

Four-

We are been all about festive outfits since September hit. It might be too early to wear our Halloween pants, but Ella doesn't care. She loves the little ghost on them!

Five-

Ella has officially mastered her colors, but she still loves playing with her color-sorting boxes that I made for her. She loves taking things out of boxes and just loves loves little 'stuff.' These boxes are totally her thing.

She used her magnifying glass to carefully inspect the different colored frogs.

Six-

One of Ella's favorite activities is playing with her baby. This was my doll that I received as a gift from my Grammie when I was just 2 or 3 years old. I took her EVERYWHERE with me and still have my memories of playing with her. I am so happy that Ella loves her too.

As you can see, her other favorite activity is putting bandaids all over her.. hah.

Seven-

We are all about Fall crafts lately and Ella's pumpkin is my favorite- you can tell she was trying to stay in the lines! It might be a bit soon to start busting out all my Fall decor, as the weather here is still fairly warm but I am starting to get all the Fall feels!

Eight-

Early morning walks to the beach with my two loves will always be my favorite.

And that's all for our favorites this week! We will be back on Monday to share a recap of our weekend, and Tuesday we are going to share our space-learning unit activities from this week. We look forward to seeing you guys then. Have a safe and happy weekend with your family! :)

  1. We just got rid of our front facing bookshelf last year; it was wonderful for when the kids were younger to display a book that would entice them to look through them more. My kids drawers still tend to be a mess but as long as the drawers can shut and no one KNOWS they're a mess inside I'm OK with that. You've got to pick your battles and messy drawers are just not worth fighting over.

    1. I totally agree!!! I realized that Ella's clothes really don't wrinkle in the drawers like that, and I would rather her be able to make her own clothing choices vs me choosing just so I can keep it neat. We'll see what happens as she gets older. Hopefully she loves folding?? Haha!

  2. I love everything you do with Ella. I pulled out the crock pot this week to get back in meal planning with less stress during "the witching Hour"

  3. Wow, lots of great updates! Ella is so cute and her smile is so contagious. Not to mention priceless! I love all the activities that you guys do together as well as the bookshelf. It's so fun to see their interest in books and this is definitely a good idea. We don't have a lot of plan this weekend either. It's hard to make any when there's really nowhere to go. So, just lots of indoor time but that's okay. I need the break! With my son starting remote learning, I am stretched thin and so tired. Anyway, I hope you are having a great weekend and happy Saturday!

    1. Ugh I am so thankful Ella isn't at the age where we are dealing with remote learning. I can't imagine how difficult that must be... hang in there Momma! I am sure you're doing great. Isn't it hard having nowhere to go?? We soo miss our 'adventures.' I am considering renaming my blog because it feels like false advertising lol. We had a good weekend and hope you did too!
