Weekend Recap

Hey guys! It's been a bit since we've shared a weekend recap post. Mostly because we haven't been doing exciting stuff worth sharing, but also because I haven't been feeling that well. Pregnancy is no joke! I did a quick update here if haven't seen it already. In addition to beginning of pregnancy joy- I have been feeling a bit sad and bored. Fall is my absolute favorite season and Covid-19 has just taken all the fun out of everything. I'm happy we're safe and healthy but I would love to be able to leave my house and do the activities I so looked forward to sharing with Ella at this fun age. I can't help but feel like we're missing out. This time next year we are going to have an infant and who knows how brave we'll be and how many activities we'll even want to do with Ella and a new babe.

Even though I wanted to do #allthethings, and we haven't done much of anything, I am hoping we can redeem ourselves by the end of the season and cross a few things off our 'to do' list. I am currently modifying our Fall bucket list to include social-distancing activities that are safe and fun, so stay tuned for that.

We tried to get out a bit this weekend and it was nice to feel like we did a little something.

Saturday-

I had to work until 1 on Saturday, but afterward I had some fun with my sweet girl. She helped me make a minestrone soup, which we both just loved. Fall season is soup season, and I love love love soup! I ended up making it with black beans and chickpeas instead of the traditional kidney bean. I didn't realize until the final step of adding the beans that we were out of kidney beans. In a moment of desperation I texted my neighbors to see if they had any in their cupboard and sadly they did not. I will say the black bean and chickpea combo was quite tasty though.

After our soup, we headed out on the town to get miss Ella her FAVORITE treat in life...

Ice cream! We have a Coldstone Creamery on the corner of Main Street, right across from the beach.

We found a nice spot on the grassy area that overlooks the pier and the beach to enjoy our treat.

Ella got a cake batter mix and I got the cheesecake flavor. Yum!

We decided to walk around a bit, but there were quite a few people out. We decided to glance down at the park on the sand (which had been closed for months) and it was open and there were NO people there. Hallelujah! Ella went WILD and was so happy.

The gorgeous sunset was a bonus.

It was such a great end to our Saturday!

Sunday-

On Sunday we went for a family hike.

We love this carrier so much- even Ella likes going inside now.

Ella insisted on wearing a dress. Not exactly hiking appropriate, but she does look cute though, doesn't she?

So pretty and it was warm but not too warm!

Ella's newest thing is stopping dead in her tracks, laying down on the ground/grass/floor, or wherever she is, and staring at the sky. It's a little gross, considering the ground is filthy, but it cracks me up too.

This was the first day I didn't feel absolutely awful, so it was nice to get out and do something fun.

After our hike, we enjoyed some snacks at a picnic table. Seaweed, raisins, fruit leathers and applesauce.

It was a beautiful day! We got Subway for lunch and then had a really lazy rest of our afternoon at home.

We enjoyed a delicious meal with Michael's parents for dinner and called it a night.

That was our simple weekend fun! We'll be back later this week to share our favorite moments from the week.

-Ashley & Ella xoxo
